Use the map to check out your state for each year from CDC.

While politics, poverty and medical care are involved I also wonder about the food supply and food choices. If weight gain is all in the mind (no self control), is it about mental health and what does it say about states that are the heaviest (self control)? I have more questions than answers.

Just intended to be information. Food for thought, etc.

What does it mean for our taxes? Should states be treated differently if they can't change the behavior's to the positive? Is that to much government? Do I want to subsidize states where they don't want government in their business but don't want to watch their life style choices? How about taxes based on the health status of the individual, like a health certificate we have to get on livestock (no insult intended). I'm working on my weight and health issues and it costs money.

If the person doesn't want to make real changes should their "health tax" go up so others don't have to be taxed as much (weight, smoking, drugs, alcohol, std's, etc.)

Should all taxes currently on life style options go directly to offset health care costs to reduce tax increases? Ask you state what they do with this money now?

I'm for universal health care, but these are concerns that should be talked about in my opinion. If individual responsibility and self reliance are important what would be the responsibility of the person and still have health care available. We know that costs for healthy people are less than those who drink, smoke, are over weight and don't exercise. Is it to much government to say you get lower rates if you are within X or a tax rebate when you submit your health certificate. Put a cap on premiums for everyone else.

Just asking,
